Yes. You might have been a hotshot of sorts back in the day.
But apparently, you got stuck there.
To tell you the truth, you are past your prime, and know it. However, you try to give others advice on clothing.
Now, I applaud your choice to say that George Zimmermann “should be investigated to the fullest extent of the law and if he is criminally liable, he should be prosecuted.”
For a fellow white man, you are at least smart in your choice of words.
But the choice of words? Pardon my french, but that was a shame.
First of all, you quite possibly know that you are still sexy, compared to the other candidates out there, and you use it to your full extend.
Yes. You know you used to be able to pull it off, and you have a dashing smile.
BUT, compare you acting youthfull, energetic, and street to this:
Now, that is what you are supposed to look like, decent, non hoodie wearing, and old and distinguished.
That being said, lets examine a bit closer what you said.
“I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman was,” Rivera explained. (source: TPM Muckraker )
No. Simply said, at thgis point, all of my sympathies due to your good looks and dashing smile are gone.
The hoodie is a choice of clothing. George Zimmermann is a murderer and still runs free.
The same point can be made when a girl gets raped, that the choice of clothing was at least as guilty as the rapist.
No. I can stand female members of society, dressed in enough tissue to make a hankey, and not lay hands upon them. (Although I can't help lopoking, but my shades usually hide that)
The reason that most older people demand that girls somehow "dress decent" is the rationing that somehow, males are less able to controll themself in the presence of a nude female.
Now, I must offer a different rationale. The female in my example has done nothing other then dress more lightly then usual. The FULL blame lies with the male attacker. In that light, the male should be the ONLY one suffering the punishment.
The same goes for George Zimmermann.
If an African American Kid in a Hoodie scares a grown man that much that he has to shoot him, then the man has a serious problem.
But, lets continue.
"“What’s the instant association? It’s crime scene surveillance tapes.
Every time you see someone stick up a 7-11, the kid is wearing a hoodie.
Every time you see a mugging on a surveillance camera or get the old
lady in the alcove, it’s kid with a hoodie,” Rivera continued." (source: TMP Muckraker )
So, according to you, because people see crime scene surveillance tapes, they tend to be more afraid.
Now, that leaves the question, how do you aquire said tapes?
The answer is relatively easy. Watch enough fox news, and you are bound to see crime scene surveillance tapes. That means, in your own words, that if the fact that george Zimmermann being scared because of the hoodies is partially responsible for the slaying of unarmed Trayvon Martin, it means that the source of that Paranoia, FOX News, and other newscasts who habitually show crime scene surveillance tapes, are at least AS guilty as the hoodie.
I could not agree more.
"“When you see a Black or Latino youngster, particularly on the
street, you walk to the other side of the street. You try to avoid that
confrontation,” he said. “Trayvon Martin, god bless him, an innocent
kid, a wonderful kid, a box of Skittles in his hands. He didn’t deserve
to die. But I bet you money, if he didn’t have that hoodie on that,
nutty neighborhood watch guy wouldn’t have responded in that violent and
aggressive way.”
The hoodie, Riveara said, cannot be rehabilitated.
“Stop wearing it! You know the old Johnny Cash song, don’t take your
gun to town, son. Leave your gun at home,” Rivera said. “There is some
things that are almost inevitable. I’m not suggesting that Trayvon
Martin had any kind of weapon, but he wore an outfit that allowed
someone to respond in this irrational, overzealous way and if he had
been dressed more appropriately… I think unless it’s raining out, or if
you’re at a track meet, leave the hoodie home, don’t let your children
go out there.”" (source: TMP Muckraker )
Just... stop.
If I see a Latino or Black youngster, I do nodd to him, and keep my way. I also do not avoid confrontation.
Also, knowing the songs of Johnny cash, it is not likely that he meant Hoodies. I only see reference to "guns", which indicates to me pretty clearly that he meant guns like the one George Zimmermann was wearing.
I do know that you will possibly not understand it, but not all people have a dresser full of suits.
Especially when it is raining, like the day when George Zimmermann shot the kid.
Now, I know you can't be as open as you would liker, and as I am the best example, english is a difficultr language.
So, in total, please, try to be silent, look dashing and handsome, and open Al Capones vault an other time for us.
Also, you looked a LOT like Ron Burgundy in your younger days, you know that?
Stay classy, silent, and dashingly handsome.
A gentlemans look at worldly events that get too little attention otherwise, and how and why to drop buckets of hate on them.
